NOUVEAU MUSICAL COMPANY - CIRQUE STYLE (ages 5-15)

CIRQUE-MUSICAL THEATRE: since 1984

  2012-2013 Season
(Sept 2012 -April 2013)

Once on This Island

Since 1984, Nathalie Yves Gaulthier has presented major musical theatre productions with youths that have equaled Broadway level quality and be crowned by success by the media and its audiences. It’s  an innovative “Cirque du Soleil” meets Broadway Musical approach, with kids.

Currently, the ONLY program of its kind in the country: that combines full Musical Theatre plays WITH Cirque/Circus Acts. Full professional level sets, costumes and make-up. The productions far exceed anyone’s expectations and this is definitely NOT “kiddie theatre”.

“Not a dry eye in the house during Gaulthier’s productions”
-The Montreal Gazette.

Highly professional full length musicals are cast every September. Rehearsals/training in aerials, musical theatre, voice, choreography take place September-May of every year.

Full length productions are presented in April or May of every year.

Some of our past Cirque-style productions have included: Alice in Wonderland, Seussical, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Aladdin, Once on this Island, Godspell, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Touring & event performances

Many of our K.I.A students tour and perform in various cities and have entertained at several functions for Make A Wish Foundation, Cap Cure, Every Child Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes and even at The Plaza Hotel in NYC.

What IS the Kids In Act-ion acting program and why is it so different?

Use of fun inspirational techniques and drama/comedy lead to self-esteem. K.I.A INSPIRES kids to believe in themselves, hence creating CONFIDENT and powerful young performers and individuals. K.I.A sensitizes kids to the world around them through empathy and compassion, making not only true and honest young actors, but most importantly , great young confident people with a high self-esteem.

Most young people are afraid to be “who they really are” for fear of being shunned. At K.I.A, we encourage individuality and guide young artists toward trusting themselves and finding their true voice.

Students are taught to develop the ability to FOCUS on their own.. At K.I.A, all fears, doubts, peer pressure and expectations are non-existant. Young artists feel safe, welcomed, “special” and as a result, they feel good about “who they are”.

Why our students succeed?

When young people feel good about themselves, they can achieve whatever they set out to accomplish. Hence, many child actors/performers attain a successful career in Film/TV from K.I.A, but most importantly, many kids’ lives are transformed and a new standard is set in place for their future.

Leadership: Many kids find themselves running for Class president, starting their own businesses, take action on a cause they believe in, begin working with charity organizations, or go on to win awards for “BEST PERFORMANCE” portraying difficult screen characters....

What People Are Saying!

There were plenty of moments in the show when I could not tell the difference between these kids and the actual performers of Cirque du Soleil or Broadway pros."
